My Heritage by Lill Tove

From my mother I got my ice blue eyes
and her big smile, she taught me how
to take care of my self and everyone
around me. From my father I got the strength
of living by myself and how to manage money.
From my stepmother I learned how to control horses
and understand their way of thinking. They all learned me
how to take care of all the good memories and learn from
the bad ones. I guess this is part of life. (In response
To Linda Hogan’s poem “Heritage”)
