He comes home with a smile on his face
No clothes, shoes, or even a shoelace
Steps into the hall
Thinks he is doomed to fall
But there is no one there, not a sound, not a hint
Nor a trace of grace
Now what’s the case,
Why the smile on his face?
He steps farther in the house
Still not even the sound of a mouse
Is he all alone?
No one to embrace
He remembers now, there was a race
Definitely a rapid pace
But everything else is gone
It is like he is all alone
He can feel it, he is in a daze
Nothing important
Still
Just the smile on his face
All he wants to see is someone kind
So he can get something else on his mind
But no
He is all alone
